Since I cba to write an even longer review with even more nitpicking, im going to copy and paste the one I wrote on Flickr, im not done with this series yet. If your a fanboi of this show and particularly this episode, I suggest you stop reading this, right now.
Ive just about had enough of this stuff, I really have. Filoni has really decided to put the cherry on top of his all ready bad career of making this show. This episode, is a complete disgrace. I want to start by saying, Filoni, do you have a fetish for having Anakin, Ashoka, etc fight every single battle in the Clone Wars? I think you do. Because thats whats happened, AGAIN.
The Clone Wars had variation, it wasn't the same old people conducting every single battle that ever occurred, but thats apparently what you want to do. Take every battle ever enacted, and stick the usual crap into it. This is quite frankly ruining whats left of the EU's cool stuff on the clone wars. And stop with the Rex already.
This episodes main issue, is how it breaks canon. It not only tries to do what the original Clone Wars did, it also quite blatantly retcons it. Why cant he just leave already established continuity alone? is it that hard to follow canon? Apparently so. This episode overwrites the whole old CW episode on Kamino, and replaces it with your usual hackneyed crap.
The characters are awful, Im getting tired of this: THE CIS ARE EVIL DERPA-HERP DUR EVRY CARACTURRRR IN TEH CIS MUZT BE MANIACAL N' EVIL HUURRRRR.
The episode opens right with dialogue that shoves this in our faces, directly saying the Quarren are evil outright. Then we have the CIS commander, who looks like a complete dunce and demonstrates the lack of ideas for this show. The prince of the Mon Calamari has quite possibly the worst voice acting in the whole series, he is seriously unconvincing.
Ackbar didn't need to be in it, hes just once again thrown in for the sake of throwing in an original trilogy character, he doesn't even say his trademark line. Mind you, thats a good thing. I was wondering why the episode cant have just Kit Fisto as the main Jedi, but nope, we have to have Anakin and Ashoka and the usual crap wars gang be present.
I'd like to point out some of the laughable dialogue/writing in this episode, most notably Ackbars random "AAAAAAHHHHHH, AAAHHHH" I was like, lolwut after hearing that. Also, a lot of the princes dialogue is just really cliche, coupled with his bad acting, it results in shit. Plus, can we stop with this odd theme of "CIS= dark creepy lighting", "Republic= nice happy lighting". Its really lame and makes no sense.
The tactics the droids and clones are using in this episode are ridiculous, run at each other with no cover, but yet only 1 guy gets hit every 10-20 seconds or so. How does that work? The giant jellyfish things are completely useless, they just move forward and occasionally sting those who are idiotic enough to swim into the blatantly obvious tentacles on the giant blatantly obvious jelly fish. Running out of ideas much, Filoni?
I will admit, I like the fact he at least killed some of the non-droid/clone characters on screen with semi-brutal deaths. That atleast demonstrates hes trying to be as good as the old Clone Wars by not being scared to do something just a little more controversial. But thats hardly an excuse to make up for the weak everything else.
Overall, utterly terrible. Badly written, badly animated, badly acted and badly done overall. 1/5.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but from what Fireguy said, it looks really bad. Ill see....

BTW, I will be doing reviews, and I will mainly be comparing CW to the wonderful original trilogy.

Kit Fisto was epic. That's about it. I kind of liked the shark guy also. Other than that, it was pretty bad. 5/10

Well that was sure disappointing.

Fireguy789, I really liked your review. You explained very well about why you didn't like the episode, however I thought some of your points were a bit...unfair for lack of a better word. You said that the tactics of the clones were stupid, and that they just swam at each other and only one guy got hit every 10-20 seconds, but in the old show they always run at each other without any tactics, and in the old show one guy got hit every ten to twenty minutes. You also said that the acting and dialogue was bad which is no different than the old show. You also say that you are tired of all the CIS characters being evil in the new show but in the old show they are just as one dimensional, and you can see that the main Quarren guy felt a little remorse for killing the Mon Cala. I am comparing this to the old show because you always bring it up saying it is much better. Other than that I thought all of your points were relevant, and showed why I like your reviews. I thought that the episodes were disappointing but not terrible.

I must say you did put it pretty good Eric, but hes convincing ^^^

@Anon
Actually no, allow me to explain. In the original, the clones do use cover, for instance, in the original battle of Mon Calamari, instead of just swimming at each other in swaths of nothing they actually break formation and swim around at random so they're much harder to hit. If it was just the droids swimming forward in a massive formation, I would have no problem with that, droids do that, but the fact the clones and the other actually living beings are doing it makes it stupid. Its seriously unlikely they would literally swim right into thousands of lasers in a suicide attack.
Also, whats this about clones dying even less frequently in the original? Clones where absolutely slaughtered by the hundreds in the original, just as many clones where killed as droids actually, and thats one of the major points I liked about the original, both sides actually die in large quantities, as they should. I honestly dont know where this "one guy gets hit 10-20 minutes" comes from, watch any battle in the old clone wars, both clones and droids are mowed down far more frequently in the original.
As for the characters thing, these two shows differ in that respect. The original was a very small miniseries, and the only very few CIS characters that weren't from the movies appeared, the only CIS commanders I remember ever appearing where some techno union guy and this random general dude. The random general guy hardly even speaks more than 2 lines, the techno union guy also hardly speaks at all.
In other words, the original features no CIS commanders to compare the new ones against. As for characters overall, Assaj Ventress was a good character in the original, Anakin was done how he should be done in the original, his personality was like in the movie and so was Obi-Wans. In the new clone wars, Anakin is just a good guy, there is no conflict with the dark side or anything at all, hes really nothing like the Anakin in the movies for more than 2 seconds occasionally.
The last thing I want to say is the original is just a miniseries, no more, no less. It was composed of a couple short episodes of 5-10 minutes, and for what it was, it was brilliant and it really added to the Star Wars universe, it did everything it was supposed to and far more. It was genuine entertainment. The new one is meant to be a full running series composed of 20-30 minute episodes, most of the time the script is terrible, the plot is terrible and the overall characters are terrible, its also really cliche. I personally look at the new one of more of a marketing ploy.
Im not going to deny, the new one has made some brilliant episodes on par with the original series, the opening of Season 3 on Kamino is a great example, that episode was brilliant and they created a character who I actually cared about (99). However, only a very small percentage of the new clone wars episodes are on par with the old one, which is quite saddening actually.

@Fireguy789
Thank you for clarifying. What I meant when I said that none of the clones get hit, I meant that most clones get hit by s really powerful bad guy like Durge and his IG Lancers. In the battle of Muunilinst only one member of the Arc Troopers is killed and the droids have rapid fire sniper rifles. That aside I get what you mean. I like both series the same. Both of them work better in different ways. The idea of the new show is as you said a marketing ploy, I think that they try to make episodes distinctly different so that one episode can entertain a particular person therefore bringing in a larger audience and more people buying Lucas' toys. The old one was more straight ahead. I think both of these series can't compete with the originals but are better than the atrocious prequels. But then again I'm only twelve and you are probably much older and have more knowledge than me.
P.S I LOVED all of your films especially Guns of Dubrillian.

I actually liked 99, there was a true story behind him, unlike some of the other clones and characters!
